DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS
Expected Date of Travel: Monday April 16, 2001

Departing from: Sanderson, Texas

Arriving at: Austin, Texas

Expected Mileage: 342.1 miles or 550.9 kilometers traveled in 7 hours 06 minutes. Planned route of travel is 46% on Interstate Highway, 37% on non-Interstate highways, 17% on state highways or minor roads and 0% on city streets. (Travel time does not include gas stops, food stops or any sightseeing).

Average Rate of Travel: 48.2 miles per hour or 77.6 kilometers per hour

Route Overview:

Depart Sanderson on US Route 90 headed west (a bit of a backtrack) to US Route 285.

Transition to US Route 285 headed north to Ranch Road 2400. After 39 miles, transition to Texas Route 349. At Sheffield, take Texas Route 290 to exit 325 on Interstate 10.

Part II of today's ride has me headed east on Interstate 10 towards San Antonio. The Interstate leg is 152 miles or nearly half of today's mileage. Stay on Interstate 10 until US Route 290 breaks off from the Interstate highway. Head east on 290 to Austin. There is a short leg of 290/281.

Comments

This seems to be a ride in two three parts. Some back country roads (I hope its a paved road), Interstate running and then some country highways.

The second half of the ride gives a chance at some time in the Texas Hill Country.
