Comments
Key West was my objective when I first conceived of this plan way back in early 2000. I needed to be able to visualize something dramatic to hold this idea in my mind. Key West: its almost not real. When I shared my plan with my friend Trevor he related a story of his drive to Key West. He told me that driving his convertible BMW across the causeway was exhilarating, almost like flying above the waves. I hope the feeling is just as great on a bike. I'm sure it will be and I look forward to this drive. Once in Key West, I'm taking a couple days to relax. Fate smiles on those that wait: I get to be in Key West for the Conch Republic Independence Celebration. 2001 will be the 19th annual marking of the declaration of independence of the Republic responding to a Border Patrol traffic blockade. OK 2001-19, oh that makes sense, the first Reagan Administration.
