At intersection with US Route 30 (Lincoln Highway), turn right onto Route 30 heading east. Just beyond Lancaster, PA, at intersection with Pennsylvania Route 23, transition to route 23 headed east. At intersection with Interstate 176, enter I-176 headed north. At intersection with US Route 422, transition to route 422 headed west. Route 422 becomes US Route 222, remain on 222 headed west. At intersection with Interstate 78, enter I-78 headed east. Take the next exit onto US Route 22 headed east. At Easton, PA enter Interstate 78 headed east. At Newark, intersection with US Route 1, enter Route 1 northbound. At intersection with Interstate 95 (New Jersey Turnpike), enter turnpike headed north. Cross George Washington Bridge onto Manhattan. At intersection with Interstate 87 (Major Deegan Expressway) enter I-87 headed north Exit onto Interstate 287 (Cross Westchester Parkway) headed east. Exit at North Broadway to White Plains.

I'm not sure about how this day will turn out. My plan is to get some miles out of the way with the interstate segments. Then hopefully have some time in the countryside. Then get through the urban jungle of Newark / New York City as quickly as possible. Frankly the ride between Newark and Manhattan has me a little nervous. See alternate loop based on Lancaster PA into Pennsylvania Dutch Country (file Leg23ALT) Lancaster, Marietta, Milelrsville, Hans Herr House, Strasburg, Gap Intercourse and Ephrata. Rejoin planned trip. Calculated travel distance is 73 miles, travel time 2 hours 10 minutes. (assuming no stops).
