Depart Springfield on Illinois 4 heading south. Stay on Illinois 4 as you pass through Chatham, Auburn, Thayer, Virden, Girard, Nilwood, Carlinville, Gillespie and Staunton Just beyond Stuanton, turn right onto Illinois 157 heading south to Edwardsville. Just before Interstate 270, turn right onto Chain of Rocks Road. After coming to the blockaded road at the foot of the Chain of Rocks Bridge, backtrack to exit 4 on Interstate 270. Enter I-270 heading west. Arrive Saint Louis
