Comments

I made a minor change in my preliminary plan to include a loop around Lake Sakakawea. The Most Scenic Drives in America (1997) includes this as drive number 54.

In about 1968, I spent a month with my best friend (Tim Mielcarek), his sister and parents. Tim's Dad was a high school teacher and the family would spend the summer driving to their lakeside cottage in Minnesota and returning. I got to spend two weeks at the lake and enjoy the camping trip home. We spent one night at the South Unit of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I remember the beauty of the location and the eerie sounds of coyotes calling all night long.
